Well, if anyone was hesitant about the potential success of the Norwegian Breakaway, their recent exciting announcement should ease all doubts. Continuing their strong tradition of excellent entertainment, but stepping it up a notch, Norwegian is bringing not one, but three Broadway shows to their newest ship. Rock of Ages, recently made popular by the movie starring Tom Cruise, is a wildly successful Broadway musical featuring music by the best 80's hair bands. Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy continues the long standing high quality of "cirque du soleil" shows. Burn the Floor is a high energy dance-centric show of amazing Latin ballroom dancing. Second City comedy will still be featured onboard as well as blues music by the New York based Slam Allen Band.
As if that wasn't enough, brand new Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian, will be creating the menus for the new seafood restaurant, Ocean Blue as well as the Raw Bar and Ocean Blue on The Waterfront, a quick service eatery. He will also be overseeing every aspect of the restaurants, truly bringing his own flavor to the Norwegian Breakaway.
For a huge Broadway and Food Network fan like me, this announcement cements the Norwegian Breakaway's place as my most anticipated ship. A full waterpark at sea, extensive mini-golf and sports area have already been announced as well as an outdoor promenade with restaurants and lounges. The Breakaway definitely seems to be "breaking away" from the pack and setting itself apart as a new and exciting experience.
