French Riviera- Villefranche Port Information
Arriving/Getting Around- The train and bus system is the easiest way to go in this region.
Here are the directions on how to explore the region from Villefranche.
To Get to Monaco from Villefranche- Leave the Gare Maritime and turn right. Walk along the Quays. On the Promenade des Marinieres, climb the steps to the GARE SNCF. Take the train to Ventimille. Departure station is Villefranche, Destination station is Monaco Monte-Carlo. 5 euros round trip.
To Get to Nice from Villefranche- To take the train, follow the directions above, but instead take the train to Nice. You must go back under the tracks to catch the Nice train. The Nice-Ville station is 2 stops from Villefranche. From this station, you can easily get to the Promenade des Anglais.
To Get to Eze from Villefranche- Leave the cruise terminal. Follow previous directions to train station. Take the train in the direction of Marseille. Take the train to Eze Bord de Mer, then the bus N83 to the village of Eze. 3 euros round trip for train, 2 euros for the bus.

Casino of Monte Carlo- 10 euros. Ornate casino with paintings and gold work.
Oceanographic Museum- 12.50 euros. Open 9:30-7. Includes aquarium and shark lagoon.
Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology- 6.80 euros. Open 9-6. Contains remains of prehistoric human remains.
Prince of Monaco's Vintage Car Collection- 6 euros. 100 classic cars of all ages, both European and America as well as six coaches belonging to Prince Ranier III.
Visiting Eze- This medieval village has winding paths, lots of local shopping and beautiful view. The garden at the top costs 5 euros to enter, but the views are supposed to be worth it. There are a couple of fancy, Michelin star restaurants in this village as well as some more homey French country restaurants.

Promenade des Anglais- Walkway along the beach lined with cafes and bustling with cyclists, walkers and runners. It is several miles long and dates back to the 1800's.
Matisse Museum- 5 euros, Open 10-6. Extensive collection of Matisse's works, both early and later.
Marc Chagall Museum- 7.50 euros.Open 10-6. 17 canvases and several sculptures and stained glass.
Russian Cathedral- Open 9-12 and 2:30-6. Most beautiful Russian church outside of Russia. Onion-shaped domes and mosaics. Impressive, but possibly not worth the admission (I think it was 3 euros each) Glad I saw it, wouldn't see it again.
