The Internet Cruising Community

On Tuesday, I decided it was high time that I get a twitter account for this website and podcast. Now, I have never really understood the allure of twitter, but I knew that the people who were really into it seemed to always have their phones out, just typing like crazy. I have a personal twitter account, and never got it. I mean, what in the world would I be tweeting about to the 10 or so people that followed me? And they never replied or anything, and I wasn't really getting anything interesting from anyone else. But everyone who has ever done a podcast or blog seems to be all about twitter, so I guessed that somehow it helped in someway that I could not understand and so I set up the account and started following people. Well, not 2 minutes later, before I even got my picture up, Cruise Radio was following me, and I'm like "whoa". If you don't know, those guys have upwards of 30,000 listeners a week and get interviews with folks such as John Heald. And they had listened to MY podcast. Shortly therafter, I came across CruiseBart, a guy who just likes to find great cruise sites and retweet them and CruiseMan3000, an extremely joyous young man who loves NCL and cruising. Then theRCLblog, a great unofficial Royal Caribbean blog listening and LetsCruiseNow was talking about my port reviews and I started to really get excited about twitter. I was able to find out that one of my inspirations for this podcast had actually referred theDCLblog to my little show (thanks Matt Hochberg), and that the owner of the travel agency I have used forever had listened too! In addition, I am finding great resources and news and am just enjoying the "company" of others who really enjoy cruising. So, thanks for the welcome, cruise community and I can't wait to meet you someday. See you on twitter! (Where I am still figuring everything out, but have had my phone in my hand way more often than I used to)
